Home Connection Issue with RDP
Modified on: Thu, 10 Apr 2025 1:06 PMIssue:
Some users have reported a problem when connecting from home via Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), where only the lock screen is visible after connecting.
Solution:
- Right-click the RDP file.
- Select Edit (second option from the top). If you don't see the Edit option, click "See more options" at the bottom, and then select Edit at the top. This will open the Remote Desktop Connection window.
- Navigate to the Experience tab.
- Under "Choose your connection speed to optimize performance," change the dropdown setting from "Detect connection quality automatically" to WAN (10 Mbps or higher with high latency).
- Go back to the General tab.
- Click Save to apply the changes.
- Close the Remote Desktop Connection window.
- Attempt to connect again.
If the issue persists, repeat the steps above, but in Step 4, change the dropdown option to High-speed broadband (2 Mbps – 10 Mbps) instead.
