Setting up Synology C2 Password Manager
Step 1:
An IT admin will activate your account, and Synology will send you an activation email. Check your inbox for the email. If you don’t see it, look in your Spam or Junk folder. Still can’t find the email? Contact IT for help.
Step 2:
a. Find the activation link in your email and click it to begin setting up your account.
If you didn’t receive the email, you can use this link instead: https://portal.hpg.li/login/set-password?region=us
b. Enter your Account – Firstname.Lastname
c. Enter your verification code.
~ Ensure that the 3 Alphabets you copied from your email match the one on the Synology website.

Step 3:
Create a passphrase
- Use a phrase that’s easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess.

Passphrase requirements:
- At least 12 characters
- Includes uppercase and lowercase letters
- Contains numbers and special symbols
- If you need help, contact IT support or use our passphrase generator @ https://genphrase.com.
Step 4:
- Scan the QR code with your phone’s camera to download the C2 Synology app.
- Synology requires its own authentication app called Synology Secure Signin.

After downloading the app on your phone, click Next on your PC to continue.

Step 5:
Scan the following QR code to link your account. Please hit next once done.

Step 6:
a. Tap the otp button on your phone to switch to the otp section

b. Tap the + on the top right to scan the TOTP QR Code.
c. Scan the TOTP QR code, tap the correct number on your phone, and complete the process.
Step 7:
After completing the TOTP setup. Navigate to the C2 password section.
a. Click on the app tray at the top right of the screen.

b. Click on C2 Password

Step 8:
Please copy and paste the following setup code into the required field to continue your Synology C2 Password Manager setup:

Step 9:
a. Set your master password
- Your master password must be at least 13 characters long.
b. Download and save your Recovery Code
- Download your Recovery Code and save it securely in your OneDrive folder.
- This Recovery Code is required if you ever need to recover your account.
- Important: Neither IT nor Synology can recover your account if this code is lost.

Step 10:
a. Download and install the browser extension. Pin the extension for easy access.

b. Sign into the extension.

If the organization name (HPG) is typed in lowercase, it wouldn't request the data center's name.
c. Input your master password

d. Exit the extension Page and Return to the C2 Synology setup page.
Step 11:
Setup complete.
